Photographer/ Researcher/Socially Engaged Practice

Premised on the need for social change, artist Deirdre Power’s practice, brings the cultural agenda to the heart of the body politic; promoting dialogue between public agencies and citizens, engaging with the complexities of the city and its social development. The projects explore issues impacting the environment to crafting personal and collective accounts of everyday life through photography. I have led collaborative projects with civic groups including Henry St Residents (Create), Irish Chamber Orchestra, Limerick Narwhals, Lumen Street Theatre Company, Urban Tree Project, Tree Council of Ireland, Open House, The Ilen Marine School, Civic Trust, Curraghour Boat Club and the many communities that inform our social history.

Residencies: McDowell Colony USA, Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Nuuk Greenland and Madeira. I completed a year study in Organic Farming at An tlonad Glas in Dromcollogher in 2020.
